The everyday outfit

Hi people! How was your weekend? Now february have finished I have plenty of time for blogging again, so I decided to go out to take a few pictures.I'm not wearing anything fancy, sorry, but that's not the point, because, who goes all dressed up for going to highschool/university? (Ok, a lot of people, but I don't think wearing tons of make up and heels for university or highschool is suitable either) Yep, you (or me) have days when we feel inspired, but for the rest of the days comfortable clothes like a pair of jeans, some cardigan and coat over it and a nice pair of shoes or bag make the everyday outfit. So, just wondering, what do you wear for college? ♥

Hey, ¿qué tal estáis? ¿Qué tal el finde? Ya que febrero ha terminado (¡por fin!) tengo bastante más tiempo para estar blogueando por aquí y por allá, así que hace un par de días decidí salir a sacar algunas fotos de lo que he estado llevando estos días más o menos. No llevo nada del otro mundo, pero eso tampoco era lo que pretendía, porque ¿quién va super arreglado a la universidad/instituto? (Bueno, mucha gente, pero tampoco creo que ir con medio kilo de maquillaje y tacones sea lo adecuado). Sí, hay algunos días en que nos podemos sentir más inspirados, pero por lo general algo cómodo, una rebeca, abrigo y un par de zapatos o un bolso mono hacen mi conjunto típico para el día a día. Y bueno, ya por curiosidad ¿qué os soléis poner para el instituto/universidad/trabajo?

London Fashion Week review

Burberry

This time, Christopher Bailey showed us a woman, half town girl, half field girl. The show was very well done; the owls, the hats and the herringbone reminded us to the field while peplums, velvet and bowties told us "town". Did you like it? I did, although my thoughts about the collection were almost the same as about last spring's collection; the clothes are pretty, but they remind me so much to the previous collections that I'm not very enthusiastic about it. Not feeling like if it were something completely new and fresh. Yes, the motif, the (let's say) "argument" of the show is new and original, but the clothes themselves not so much.
Esta temporada, Christopher Bailey nos propone una colección en la que se conjugan los motivos campestres (las boinas, los búhos de jerseys y camisetas o la tela de espiguilla) con los urbanos (como las pajaritas de los cinturones, los peplums o el terciopelo). El motivo principal, esa mezcla urbano-campestre me ha gustado mucho, sin embargo sigo pensando como lo hice la primavera pasada, la colección ha estado bien, pero nada sorprendente, supongo que porque las prendas siguen siendo las mismas pero reversionadas, pero nada que me haga caerme de la silla de la sorpresa.

Christopher Kane

Cool! After a very girly spring collection last season, this one was very different. I loved the print (but not colour) mix.
Christopher Kane si que me ha gustado mucho, sobre todo la mezcla de estampados pero no de colores (sí, ya me entendéis, que mezclaban varios estampados pero el color no variaba). Muy chulo y diferente de la colección de la primavera pasada, mucho más "aniñada" o girly, como prefiráis.

Erdem

I've never paid attention to Erdem before, but I think I should haved done it before! I really loved the show, it was so so amazing, really. Almost everything was printed, even the shoes! Have you noticed the dress on the left? It seems like it's done of watercolour spots!
Si os digo la verdad, nunca había prestado mucha atención a Erdem, pero quizás debería haberlo hecho. Me ha gustado muchísimo esta colección, todo era estampado ¡incluso los zapatos! ¿Habéis visto el vestido de la izquierda? Parecen manchas de pintura ¿verdad?

Holly Fulton

Londoners are not afraid of experimenting guys and girls, and this and Mary Katrantzou (as all the other designers there) are the proof of this. I've never (ever) heard about Holly Fulton before but I liked it. The patterns were very curious, and the dresses very cool.
Gentecilla, los londinenses no le temen a nada, y mucho menos experimentar. Creo que esto queda claro con la colección de Holly Fulton y Mary Katrantzou (aunque también con todos los diseñadores). No había oido hablar antes de la marca, pero los estampados son geniales (quizás un poco excesivos, pero muy chulos).

Mary Katrantzou

This greek girl is just too cool. Her desings are always so amazing, not only the prints but also the dresses' shape are very beautiful too. Take a look at her collection for Topshop!
Esta griega es la caña, en serio. Siempre sorprende con sus estampados, que ya son una tradición, siempre siguiendo su línea pero diferentes a la vez. Por cierto, si os gusta ¡no olvidéis echarle un vistazo a su colección para Topshop!

Mulberry

Mulberry was maybe one of the most conservative shows at London Fashion Week. A lot of fur, a lot of layers and a lot of beautiful bags too, the Del Rey (the bag that Mulberry have created for Lana del Rey) made her debut on the runway.
Quizás Mulberry haya sido uno de los más conservadores en comparación con el resto. Había mucha piel, muchas capas y muchos bolsos bonitos, entre ellos el Del Rey (el nuevo bolso que Mulberry ha creado para Lana del Rey), que hizo su debut en la pasarela.

New York Fashion Week review

Hi everybody! Now that NY Fashion Week has finished, let's take a look at some of the shows and see what designers propose us to wear next winter. It's crazy, right? Winter hasn't even finished yet and we're looking what we will be wearing next fall... Anyway, are you ready for the longest post ever? Yes? No? Well, let's get started.

¡Hola a todos! Ahora que la semana de la moda neoyorkina ha terminado, ¿qué tal si echamos un vistazo a las propuestas de los diseñadores para el próximo invierno? Por cierto, qué locura ¿verdad? Apenas andamos a mediados de invierno cuando ya estamos pendientes de lo que nos vamos a poner el invierno que viene... Pero bueno, de cualquier manera, espero que estéis preparados para uno de los posts más largos del mundo porque vamos a empezar.

Derek Lam

Derek Lam's show was one of the most interesting, in my opinion. The scenario was so cool and the clothes shown too, I'm really in love with that small flowers print (which, by the way, was influecend by the cover of an old book he found) and those non sleeve sweaters. Very very cool indeed.
El desfile de Derek Lam fue uno de mis favoritos y de los más interesantes en mi opinión. La pasarela estuvo muy chula y las prendas también. Me gustó mucho el estampado de florecillas (en el que, según él, se sintió muy inspirado por la portada de un libro antiguo que encontró) y los jerseys sin manga.

Jason Wu

I was very surprised with Jason Wu's show because it was very different from what he has accustumed us to. The very femenine and powerful woman was still a powerful woman but with oriental influence this time, that remind me to a Lara Croft wearing her sunglasses and high ponytail (yes, her hair wasn't always in a braid) in mision in China, or sort of.
Jason Wu también me sorprendió mucho, ya que el desfile contrastó mucho con los anteriores. Aunque se seguía imponiendo una mujer muy femenina a la vez que poderosa, esta vez hubo una clara influecia oriental que me recordó a una Lara Croft con sus gafas de sol y su coleta (sí, sí, aparte de la trenza también llevaba coleta).

Jenni Kayne

Since I discovered this brand sometime ago I'm really into her designs. It wasn't innovative at all (actually, the model, the russian furry hat and the shoes were the same as in the previous collection) but the clothes were so wearable and pretty that deserved to be mentioned.
Sobre Jenni Kayne ya os conté que descubrí la marca hace poquillo tiempo. Desde entonces siempre he estado echando un vistacillo a sus colecciones en busca de inspiración/ropa bonita/tal y cual. En este caso, aunque la colección ha sido de todo menos innovarodora (de hecho, la modelo, los zapatos y el gorro tipo siberiano son los mismos que la colección anterior), la ropa era tan bonita que merecía una mención.

J.Crew

What I've said about Jenni Kayne can be aplied to J.Crew and Karen Walker. These are brands (I'm talking from the total ignorance) that aren't known for their innovative proposals, but for the wearable clothes with an original touch, in this case, the print and textures mix. Anyway, very very cool.

Lo mismo de arriba lo podéis aplicar a J.Crew y Karen Walker. Estas marcas (perdonad si hablo desde la ignorancia) no son precisamente conocidas por su afán innovador, sino por la ropa tan ponible y los pequeños detalles de originalidad, en este caso los colores vivos y los contrastes tanto de colores, estampados como texturas.

Marc Jacobs

As opposite as the three brands mentioned before, Marc Jacobs' show was one of the most original shows seen at NY Fashion Week (if not the most). The XVII century + the XXI century girl, can be resumed by a mix between the mad hatter + irish leprechaun (click here to see the example ilustrated). The clothes plus the amazing paper background (made by the artist Rachel Feinstein) definetely worked out.
Y bueno, cn contraste con lo anterior está sin duda Marc Jacobs. Como dice Garance Doré, Marc Jacobs siempre sorprende, y esta vez no fue para menos. Lo que style.com resume como una síntesis entre el siglo XVII y el XXI puede resumirse en una mezcla entre el sombrerero loco y el leprechaun irlandés (aquí tenéis el ejemplo ilustrado). Además de la ropa había que añadir el precioso fondo de papel a modo de castillo realizado por la artista Rachel Feinstein.

Phillip Lim

Phillip Lim creations aren't anymore the superhero sweaters print shown before, but very minimalistic clothes that keep interesting due to the modern cuts of coats and jackets, that might remind us to "modern-day superheros that walk around us" (as he said). Not one of my favourites, but still very nice.
Y bueno, Phillip Lim ha pasado de los jerseys de superhéroes de su colección anterior a una mucho más moderna en la que los estampados son sustituidos por cortes muy modernos en abrigos, chaquetas, pantalones que podrían recordarnos a "superhéroes modernos del día a día" (según el mismo diseñador). No ha sido una de mis preferidas pero bueno, no ha estado nada mal tampoco.

Proenza Schouler

I know you can't hear me, but I'm clapping my hands right now. When I saw the first outfit (the one in the middle) I was thinking "noo, please, not another show with that minimal vibe and cool but already seen", but nope, it wasn't like that. Suddenly the all white outfits turned to colorful and oriental clothes, like the seen at Jason Wu but in a more abstract way with very beautiful and cool cut clothes.
Bueno, bueno, bueno... Casi que todavía estoy aplaudiendo por la pedazo de colección de la pareja detrás de Proenza Schouler. Tengo que reconocer que al principio ese conjunto del medio me dejó un poco descolocada, porque no me apetecía ver más de la vena minimalista con cortes novedosos blah blah blah, pero cuando la ropa comenzó a volverse más colorista y comenzaron esos motivos orientales (a lo Jason Wu pero unos cuantos desfiles después) me emocioné. Bonito, bonito.

Rodarte

So beautiful! I loved the whool sweaters and long dresses, plus, the make up and hair style was so beautiful too.
Precioso. Los jerseys, las chaquetas, los vestidos y ese maquillaje y peinado que parecen de muñeca (sobre todo en Lindsey Wixson).

Thakoon

Inspired by the red light district in Amsterdam, Thakoon presented us red and pink clothes, laser cut details in coats and neon light prints, which I really liked.
Por último (ya termino, ya) Thakoon se inspiró en el barrio rojo de Amserdam, plamado no solo en el binomio rosa-rojo sino en las luces de neon de muchos de los vestidos (un detalle muy original).

Nina Nolte, the best is yet to come

Quick post today just to show you the amazing work of Nina Nolte, a german painter whose paintings full of vibrant colours and underwater scenes have melted my heart. Seriously awesome ♥

Esta noche os dejo con un post breve, aunque como dicen, lo bueno si es breve dos veces bueno ¿no? Y por bueno me refiero a las pinturas de Nina Nolte, una pintora alemana cuyas escenas bajo (y sobre) el agua me han llegado al corazón. Son impresionantes ¿verdad?

Some thoughts on a Friday morning

Good morning everybody! How are you? As most of you, I'm a big fan of street style blogs, in special to the Sartorialist (yeah... I'm so original, I know) and, after watching street style pictures over and over, I've came to some conclusions, let me tell you:

1. Age does not matter
2. And, just because age doesn't matter, you can wear what you like

This might sound a bit confusing, you can't wear whatever you like, but you can adapt whatever you'd like to wear. For example, I could (and love) perfectly wear the the lady in the Chanel ballerinas' outfit, and she could wear the first girl's outfit.

3. ... Whatever your budget is

because, I find that denim shirt worn as a dress as cool as the super cool outfit the woman with the sunnies (on the botton) is wearing (although, well... it somehow helps, but not necessarily).

¡Buenos días a todos! Como todos aquí, soy una gran fan de los blogs de street style, sobre todo de the Sartorialist (que original soy ¿verdad?). Bueno, pues de tanto mirar y mirar hay algunas conclusiones que he sacado. Os digo:

1. El estilo no entiende de edades
2. Y como no entiende de edades, cualquier edad es buena para llevar lo que "quieras"

Bueno... esto es un poco relativo, porque la última señora no se va a poner la camisa vaquera a modo de vestido que lleva la primera, pero por ejemplo, el outfit de la señora de las bailarinas rosas de Chanel lo podría llevar yo ahora mismo. Es decir, no es un "todo vale" pero sí un "todo es adaptable".

3. ... Ni tampoco de bolsillos

Porque para mí gusto, tan genial es la chica de la camisa vaquera como la señora de abajo con las gafas de sol, aunque bueno... un poco sí que influye.

Y bueno... eso es todo ♥
