Some thoughts on a Friday morning

Good morning everybody! How are you? As most of you, I'm a big fan of street style blogs, in special to the Sartorialist (yeah... I'm so original, I know) and, after watching street style pictures over and over, I've came to some conclusions, let me tell you:

1. Age does not matter
2. And, just because age doesn't matter, you can wear what you like

This might sound a bit confusing, you can't wear whatever you like, but you can adapt whatever you'd like to wear. For example, I could (and love) perfectly wear the the lady in the Chanel ballerinas' outfit, and she could wear the first girl's outfit.

3. ... Whatever your budget is

because, I find that denim shirt worn as a dress as cool as the super cool outfit the woman with the sunnies (on the botton) is wearing (although, well... it somehow helps, but not necessarily).

¡Buenos días a todos! Como todos aquí, soy una gran fan de los blogs de street style, sobre todo de the Sartorialist (que original soy ¿verdad?). Bueno, pues de tanto mirar y mirar hay algunas conclusiones que he sacado. Os digo:

1. El estilo no entiende de edades
2. Y como no entiende de edades, cualquier edad es buena para llevar lo que "quieras"

Bueno... esto es un poco relativo, porque la última señora no se va a poner la camisa vaquera a modo de vestido que lleva la primera, pero por ejemplo, el outfit de la señora de las bailarinas rosas de Chanel lo podría llevar yo ahora mismo. Es decir, no es un "todo vale" pero sí un "todo es adaptable".

3. ... Ni tampoco de bolsillos

Porque para mí gusto, tan genial es la chica de la camisa vaquera como la señora de abajo con las gafas de sol, aunque bueno... un poco sí que influye.

Y bueno... eso es todo ♥

Decor idea: framing posters

Hi dear people! Long long time no see around here! I've been absent for a while, but here I am now with a decor idea (nothing brilliant, sorry) that I thought I could share with you.

As you may or may not know, I'm a big fan of interior design and decorating, and I've been obsessed with framing pictures (and nearly everything that can be framed) for a few years now. So, why not framing posters too? I think it's such a cute idea. You just have to search a beautiful version of your favourite film poster, frame it in a simple white/black frame and you're done! ♥

¿Qué tal gentecilla? ¡Cuánto tiempo! Aquí vuelvo (sólo por hoy) tras estar ausente durante algunos días porque llevaba tiempo con esta idea rondándo mi cabeza y quería compartirla con vosotros. No sé si lo sabéis o no, pero me encanta todo lo que tenga que ver con la decoración y desde hace unos años ya he estado obsesioanda con enmarcar fotos (o básicamente cualquier cosa que se me ocurra). Así que, ¿por qué no enmarcar posters de nuestras películas favoritas? (sí, sé que es una idea un poco tonta, pero estoy de exámenes, no esperéis mucho de mi cabeza estos días). Sólo tenéis que encontrar un poster de vuestra peli favorita, mejor si es una versión bonita, retro o re-versionada artísticamente ¡y ya está!

Hello there! how are you doing? I've been busy these days, as you may know, February is one of the worst months for university students, and right now I'm in the pre-exam period, which means less sleeping, more stress, feeling more nervious and an occasional coffee or red bull. That's why I'm feeling like remembering old times today, as December and Christmas period ♥

¡Hey gentecilla! ¿Qué tal os va? Estos últimos días he estado más ocupada y por eso precisamente no ha habido mucho tiempo para el blog tampoco. Como sabéis, febrero es uno de los peores meses para los estudiantes universitarios, así que aquí estoy, con el síndrome pre-examen: durmiendo un poco menos, más estresada y más nerviosa, con menos tiempo y con algún que otro cafe o red bull ocasional. Así que aprovecho para rememorar tiempos no muy lejanos y un poco más tranquilos como diciembre y las navidades, ahí va el post de hoy.

1. Un atardecer precioso.
2. 4. Yo en el proceso de buscar vestido de fin de año (al final tras mucho pensarlo fue ese el que me quedé)
3. Un desayuno super delicioso: torrijas (o tostadas francesas que queda más chic) con frambuesas.
5. 9. De visita por el Cabo de Gata y otras calas preciosas (de viajecillo con las amigas).
6. Probando la última tendencia de mezcla de estampados: pijama de cuadros+bufanda de cuadros+bailarinas de leopardo. Seguro que así soy más man repeller que Leandra (:P)
7. Los adornos de Navidad en Málaga.
8. Mi "pasatiempo" la mayor parte del día.

Blog love: the (fashion) hash

Everybody, let me introduce you to Hannah Richtman, aka the girl behind the (fashion) hash. I came across her blog a long time ago, and I loved it, so I asked her a few questions to show you in case you don't know her yet. This girl, originally from Wisconsin moved to NY decided to pursue fashion, and has been living there for 3 years now. I'm not going to talk about more, and let her talk about how she became interested in fashion, her life, her blog and how she avoids a fashion come-down. I leave you with this little interview ♥

How has your style evolved through the years? My style is constantly evolving! When I look back to when I started my blog a little over a year ago, I can’t believe how much it’s changed. My style reflects what I’m inspired by at that moment; I tend to incorporate a piece I’m obsessed with into every outfit until I find a new favorite. I’ll admit, my friends get a bit tired of seeing the same thing over and over, but I can’t help myself! When I love, I love hard.

Has your life changed since you're running the fashion hash? Absolutely! I feel so lucky to have been given such wonderful opportunities and meet such incredible people! Recently I’ve worked with H&M, Jewelmint, Stylemint, and StyledOn, which has been very exciting. I’m so thrilled that my blog, which started out as a personal fashion outlet, has transformed into my very own business.

Have you always been interested in fashion? My parents allowed me to dress myself at the ripe age of two, so fashion has always been a part of my life. I still remember specific outfits from elementary and middle school that I was absolutely crazy for. I’ve always used clothing as a vehicle for self-expression, and when you’re dressing to impress only yourself, there’s a lot of room to grow (and thank goodness for that, or else I’d still be rocking body glitter and dog tags!).

Have you ever regretted of wearing something? Sometimes when I look back, I think, “Oh wow, that outfit is just so wrong”, but if I never experimented with fashion, I wouldn’t have any reason to start my blog, or even get dressed in the first place! I try my best to have fun with fashion, so I figure if I love what I’m wearing today, then who cares what I think tomorrow? I try to live in the present.

How much time do you need to get ready and think what you're going to wear every day? I’m a freelance stylist, so planning outfits is what I love to do! Getting ready is my favorite part of the day. Sometimes I’ll pick out an entire week’s worth of looks, other times I dress in the moment. There’s really no formula. For me, it’s all about feeling something and acting on it.

For you, it's essential in an outfit... Confidence! Wear what you love and nothing can stop you.

What is your style influenced by? My style is hugely influenced by my gut instinct. There are some pieces I love and others I wouldn’t touch with a ten-foot pole. I think personal style is found where trends don’t dictate taste, which is probably why I love vintage shopping so much! When every piece is technically “out”, genuine individuality emerges.

Now you know her you know what to do, let's all avoid a come-down and get fashion high with her.

Gente, dejadme presentaros a Hannah Richtman, conocida también como la chica detrás del blog the (fashion) hash. Encontré su blog hace ya bastante tiempo y nada más verlo me encantó (sus fotos y estilismos son geniales ¿verdad?) así que pensé en hacerle alguna que otra preguntilla y enseñároslo por aquí para aquellos que no la conozcáis (y bueno, para los que la conocen ya también). Esta chica, decidió mudarse desde Wisconsin a NY para perseguir su sueño y dedicarse a la moda, y ya lleva allí 3 años. Bueno, voy a dejar de hablar yo, que si nadie me corta me enrollo, y os voy a dejar con sus respuestas sobre cómo se interesó por la moda, su vida, su blog y como evitar una "descenso" en lo que inspiración se refiere, como ella dice.

¿Cómo ha evolucionado tu estilo con el paso del tiempo? ¡Mi estilo está evolucionando constantemente! Cuando me acuerdo de cuando empecé el blog hace año y algo, me cuesta creer cuánto he cambiado. Mi estilo refleja lo que me inspira en cada momento; suelo incorporar alguna pieza que me obsesione en mis outfits hasta que encuentro una pieza nueva que me encante más. La verdad, tengo que admitir que mis amigos se cansan un poco de verme con una misma prenda una y otra vez, ¡pero no puedo evitarlo! Cuando me gusta algo, me gusta de verdad.

¿Ha cambiado tu vida desde que llevas el blog? ¡La verdad es que sí! Me siento muy afortunada de haber tenido nuevas oportunidades y de haber conocido gente tan increíble. Recientemente he trabajado con H&M, Jewelmint, Stylemint y StyledOn, lo que ha sido muy emocionante. Estoy encantada de que mi blog, que empezó como un punto de escape para mis outfits y tal se haya transformado en mi propio negocio.

¿Siempre te ha interesado la moda? Mis padres dejaron que me vistiera sola con cuando tenía dos años, así que la moda siempre ha formado parte de mi vida. Todavía me acuerdo de algunos outfits del colegio y el instituto que me volvían loca. Desde siempre usaba la moda como una forma de expresión y cuando te vistes para impresionarte a tí misma es cuando se puede evolucionar (y gracias a dios por eso, o sino aún estaría llevando bodies de purpurina y chapas (de estas típicas que llevan los soldados del cuello).

¿Te has arrepentido alguna vez de haber llevado algo en especial? A veces cuando miro hacia atrás pienso "Madre mía, ¡ese conjunto está fatal!", pero si no hubiera experimentado con la moda, no habría tenido ninguna razón para empezar con el blog. Trato de pasármelo bien con la moda así que, si me gusta lo que estoy llevando hoy, ¿qué importa lo que piense mañana? Trato de vivir en el presente.

¿Cuánto tiempo necesitas para prepararte y pensar lo que vas a llevar cada día? Soy estilista freelance, así que planear conjuntos y outfits es lo que me encanta. Prepararme es mi parte favorita del día, a veces me pongo algo que llevo pensando una semana entera y otras me visto en un minuto.

Para tí, es esencial en un outfit... La confianza, lleva puesto lo que quieras y que nada pueda pararte.

¿Qué influye tu manera de vestir? Mi propio instinto. Hay piezas que me encantan y otras que no querría tocar ni con un palo de 3 metros. Creo que el estilo se encuentra donde no influyen las modas pasajeras, donde las tendencias no influencian tu gusto (precisamente será por eso que me encantan las tiendas vintage, cuando una prenda de ropa está establecida como "out" ahí es donde nace la individualidad).

Bloggers that designs shoes, celebrities with their own clothing line, models that also have designed their own collections... It seems that the fashion world is going crazy and sometimes they change roles. This time is the turn of Taylor Tomasi-Hill that becomes designer for a while and colaborates with the brand Lane Crawford, having these pieces you have below as the result. Pretty nice, uh? It is notable that she works in the fashion industry.

Bloggers que diseñan zapatos (Chiara Ferragni, Susie Bubble, Leandra Medine, Alix from thecherryblossomgirl), celebrities y modelos que tienen su propia línea de ropa (Chloë Sevigny, Erin Wasson, Sienna Miller, Whitney Port, Alexa Chung)... Parece que el mundo de la moda se está volviendo un poco loco y todo el mundo intercambia sus papeles. Esta vez es el turno de Taylor Tomasi-Hill que se ha convertido en diseñadora para colaborar con la firma Lane Crawford, dando por resultado las prendas que tenéis abajo. Son geniales ¿verdad? De lo mejor que he visto en este tipo de colaboraciones, cómo se nota que trabaja en la industria de la moda ♥

Here it comes a post that I'm sure you'll enjoy, and why am I so sure? Because it's full with Steve McCurry's picture? Who is that guy? (may you ask). Well, McCurry is one of today's best photographers, his pictures have appeared in National Geographic's magazine (you've seen the picture of the green eyed girl a few times, right?) and received so many awards.

He use to say "If you wait, people will forget your camera and the soul will drift up into view" ♥

I'm only posting the (how to say it?) pleasing to the eye ones, but there are a lot about the 11S, the earthquake in Japan last may and wars that should be seen.

What is better (talking about blogging) than starting the year with some style inspiration?
As I did last year, there are some people that have called my atention with some amazing outfits and style through the whole year, maybe because I hadn't heard of them before, maybe because I hadn't noticed her amazing style before or just because they've make some sort of "style resurgence".
In my opinion, these people are (starting from left to right)

Elizabeth Olsen (the MK and Ashley's sister), Emma Watson, Kirsten Dunst, Natalie Joos, Ryan Gosling and Shala Monroque

Each one for a different reason, I think that they diserve a special mention.

The Vest

Today is one of those days when the planets align some way that I decide to post some pictures of me.

I decided to go out to enjoy the beautiful weather (I'm wearing bare feet, have you noticed it? ♥ ) and asked my sister to bring her camera and take a few pictures, and this is the result.

PS. I was wearing a nice green coat that I turned into a vest because I couldn't find anything similar in the shops, and because I just got bored of it.

PS3. That's me trying to take a beautiful picture with leaves falling around me in a romantic way, but it didn't work out. Instead you have a picture of me freaking out and trying to take the leaves out of my face.

Christmas Wishlist

Like everybody else, I also have a Christmas wishlist and because I have nothing better to show you today (and because I want to do it, who am I kidding?), I'll show you guys what I would like to have under the Christmas tree ♥
I'm not being very whimsical (I think)...

#1. First of all, I would like a pair of oxford shoes, and I do need them because my feet are freezing in my ballerinas, and I've already seen a very beautiful pair in the shops.
#2. I would like a few pairs of pants, maybe some black cargo pants I've seen in Zara and the Navajo pants... and some t-shirts and sweaters, but I'll leave it until the sales.
#3. I would also like an amazing Michael Kors watch (preferaly the two toned -silver and gold- one), although I don't think I'll get it, but dreaming is free, right?
#4. A beautiful bowling bag would be also a very very nice present, for example, that green one by Zara is gorgeous.
#5. And last but not least, some books I've seen in Amazon; I always receive books in Christmas -thanks to my lovely sister- and I want to keep filling my shelves. I'm thinking about the new one by the fantastic duo behing Who What Wear, and maybe a decor one too (I've heard about some by Deborah Needleman) and the one by Carine Roitfeld "Irreverent" wouldn't be bad either.

So, now I've said my wishes, what would you like to get these Christmas?

It seems incredible that two years have already passed since I started blogging, time goes by so fast, right? It have been two years since I decided to start this little blog and each day I'm happier about the decision I made. I know my blog is not anything big, but you can't imagine how beautiful is to see every comment that you leave, to see that people are reading and seeing what I post.

Joanna Hillman gets married

Yes, yes, you've read it correctly, Joanna Hillman got married! ♥

As it happened with Taylor Tomasi-Hill, that got married almost 4 years ago (2008), now it's the turn of my second favourite fashion editor, Joanna Hillman, to celebrate her wedding. It happened just a month ago, 5th november, and if I have to be honest, I prefer Taylor's wedding, but this one was also nice, more propper of a new yorker.

She wore a Rochas dress and Ralph Lauren heels, and, as you can see, her hair and lipstick were as perfect as usually.

The new it couples

Now that Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher and Alexa Chung and Alex Turner have broken up (well, Alexa and Alex broke up quite a long time ago) some new "It" couples are needed to fill all those gossip magazines, and who better than Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendez or Andrew Garfield dating Emma Stone?
In my opinion, Ryan and Eva don't look too "in love", just the opposite to Emma and Andrew (new couple in real like and in their next film: "Spiderman"), they're just too cute ♥

How I met your mother goes man repelling

When I saw Lily (from the serie How I met your mother) wearing a Thakoon jacket and a gorgeous Proenza Schouler bag I got so shocked! That's so man repelling! (see Leandra Medine, the girl behind the man repeller, wearing the same jacket here) So I decided to continue on and watch carefully .

How I met your mother have never been consider a great show for the characters' sense of style but for how incredibly funny it is (if you guys haven't seen it, you have to), but in the last few chapters the clothes seen on the show have improved so much. They wear a lot of Chloé, Stella McCartney, Diane Von Fustenberg and even a pair of Nike new balance! ♥

And the guys too. For example, how gorgeous is Ted Mosby's coat paired with beige trousers?

The importance of basics III

Hi everybody! Well, today is day to keep talking about the importance of having a wardrobe based in basic pieces, had you thought that the importance of basics section had finished?
Previously, we had talked about tops and bottoms, so now let's cover up with more basics.
What do we need?

Forth Step
I think every women should have one of the following items in their wardrobe:

Denim jacket: why is it important? Because you can pair it with almost everything, in summer, fall, spring, and it looks awesome over dresses whether they are formal. I would recommend to get one in a colour half between dark and light blue, and in a cut that fits you, not so long and not so short, you know what they say, "virtue is the mean".
Leather jacket: is the denim jacket version for winter. This one has to be real leather (plastic leather doen't count). I would get a brown or a black one, althought black will always be easy to put together. The most important thing is to take your time, it's not always easy to find the perfect piece that you could be wearing forever.
Blazer: I have to admit I still don't own the perfect blazer or actually any, but I would say the same as above; you might get a blazer not too formal or informal, wich you could wear to the office, to a party or just to hang out in the evening, that fits you and make you look a-we-so-me (just like Barney Stinson would say). The colour? The same as above, if you don't want another black piece, try navy blue or dark grey.
Coat: I'm sorry if I'm boring you, so just apply the same said before. It has to be right to be worn with skirts, pants, jeans or dresses. So I would say (once again) that grey/black are always the safest option. Why not brown? Because, what will you do when you're wearing something brown underneath?
Some cardigans or sweaters: Personally, I would go for cardigans first, but it's your choice. You can get them in any colour, length, bottoned or unbottoned, but not too tight or short (in my opinion).

If you visit Zara.com you'll see a new (and I think the first) collaboration between Zara and the Selby. Well, the result of that collaboration is the amazing video shown above, a video that Todd Selby has filmed about Lucy Chadwick, a british born girl, director of Museum52 art gallery in New York.

I know it's very VERY soon, but I can't avoid thinking about dresses for new year's eve.
I've seen lots of beautiful dresses but they're very expensive for my budget...
I don't know what to do, if you buy a dress in Zara you'll have to "keep your fingers crossed" hoping not to see someone with the same dress as you, in Mango there are too dressed up... I guess I'll end looking in the last minute in Topshop like every year.

It's been a long long time since I didn't post an interview, so I think that would be a nice post to show you today, and who better that probably the best young couple of designers ever, Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough, the two guys behind Proenza Schouler ♥

What is your favourite piece from any of your collections? It would be impossible to isolate a favourite because we have attachments to things for differents reasons, you can love one thing because it was the first, or the most successful, or the easiest or the most challenging.
What inspires you? The visual arts, especially photography and painting. The work of master couturiers. Travel. But there is never one specific reference, inspiration comes from everything, even if you don't recognise it at the time.
Who do you have in mind when you design? It's not one person. There is not one woman who is quintessentially Proenza Schouler. One of the most interesting things we have learned from doing this is what we have teenagers who wear our clothes and grandmothers who do too - which we love. The collection has so many different components, and all of the components can have many different lives, depending on the point of view. But that's what we want because that's how we design and how people dress - with intellect, with spirit and an eye for the mix.
Is designing difficult for you? If so, what drives you to continue? Like any job, there are periods, or proyects, that are more challenging than others, but that doesn't force you to quit; just get throught it. This is what we do and enjoy and are trained for So that, if nothing else, is what keeps us going.
What's your definition of beauty? Beauty is not only hard to define but it's impossible to prescribe. One of the most arresting things about beauty is often that it's a surprise - it's something that takes you off guard. If you tried to define it, you might restrict it, or run the risk of diluting it.
What is the most important lesson you've learned? That the most important lesson is probably yet to be learned.

¿Cuál es vuestra pieza favorita de todas vuestras colecciones? Sería imposible elegir sólo un favorito porque tenemos cariño a nuestras piezas por diferentes motivos, nos puede gustar algo porque fue el primero, o el que tuvo más éxito, por ser el más fácil o el que más esfuerzo nos costó.
¿Qué os inspira? Las artes visuales, sobre todo la fotografía y la pintura. También el trabajo de los grandes modistos. Viajar. Pero nunca tenemos una única referencia, la inspiración nos viene de todos lados, incluso aunque no nos demos cuenta en ese momento.
¿A quién tenéis en mente mientras diseñais? No es sólo una persona. No hay una mujer que sea por excelencia "Proenza Schouler". Una de las cosas más interesantes que hemos aprendido desde que hacemos esto es que hay tanto adolescentes como personas mucho más mayores (abuelitas) que llevan nuestra ropa, cosa que nos encanta. Cada colección está compuesta de tantas cosas y todas las piezas tienen muchas vidas, dependiendo del punto de vista. Pero eso es lo que queremos, así es como diseñamos y como la gente viste, con inteligencia, espíritu y buen ojo para las mezclas.
¿Es diseñar difícil para vosotros? Y si es así, ¿qué os empuja a continuar? Como en cualquier trabajo, hay etapas o proyectos que requieren mayor esfuerzo, pero eso no nos hace querer abandonar, simplemente se superan. Esto es lo que hacemos, lo que nos gusta y a lo que nos han enseñado.
¿Cuál es vuestra definición de "belleza"? La belleza no sólo es difícil de definir, sino también imposible de determinar. Una de las cosas más fascinantes de la belleza es que a menudo es una sorpresa, a veces es algo que te pilla "fuera de juego", de improviso. Al tratar de definirla, lo que estás haciendo es limitarla.
¿Cuál es la lección más valiosa que habéis aprendido? Que la lección más importante probablemente esté todavía por aprender.

I think I'm sick, me, posting about Balmain and Isabel Marant (and not about Chloé) and telling you I liked it? That sounds pretty weird. But... It's happening, and I have to say it. I LOVED Isabel Marant, I couldn't stand those boots from the Spring Summer 2010 collection, or the ones from this fall collection, but I've really liked what she have imagined for next summer. I think anybody can deny it: Stella McCarney have been awesome this time. I liked every single piece from the collection, so with no doubt, this show was my favourite from all fashion week.

I had so much fun this day. I enjoyed a walk in the city again, watching the port, some museums, the cathedral and the Horta Labyrinth. As you can see in the pictures, it's such a wonderful place, you should totally visit it if you go to Barcelona. By the way, have you ever seen the "Perfume: The Story of a Murderer"? Yes, that film starring Dustin Hoffman, well, some scenes take place there! Hope you like the pictures at least 1/10 of what I liked the places ♥

There are a lot of not answered questions about Paris Fashion Week,

Did you know that Kanye West is going to launch his own women collection in Paris Fashion Week?
Yes, yes, yes, I couldn't believe it either...

And what is happening in Dior?
I couldn't imagine a collection without John Galliano (which actually happened, and wasn't bad at all) but finding a substitute? It's like if we replaced Karl Lagerfeld, I think we were so accostumed to the idea "John Galliano = Dior" that now is very difficult for everybody to imagine another person designing for the maison.
Blah, blah, blah... too much talking but no facts. The thing is there are no real facts, but there are some rumors,

Something was said about Marc Jacobs, then about Haiden Ackerman and Ricardo Tisci and not everybody's talking about Alexander Wang!

I can't even imagine it, but, sometimes everybody needs a change, and I think it's time for a big change at Dior.

How is Balmain doing without Decarnin?
I've never been a big fan of Balmain, I think that Christopher Decarnin (the previous designer) did an awesome work there at first, but the last collections were quite repetitive...
Judging by the pictures of the "new" designer, Olivier Rousteing, what do you think? I think it's not bad at all to be his debut on the runway ♥

London, Milan

Here you have some of my favourite fashion shows from London and Milan fashion week. I know it's boring because all the blogs are talking about the same thing (some of them incredibly better than I could ever do) but watching the shows, the pictures and the clothes proposed for every season is a part of fashion I really love ♥

Burberry

I'm not really exited about this collection. I expected something more awesome, which is what Christopher Bailey has accostumed us to. Don't get me wrong, it was such a great collection, I loved the accesories, the use of esparto (I'm not sure about the material used in shoes and hats, but I hope you understand me) and the awesome trenchs, but I think that compared to spring 2011 and 2010 collections this wasn't brilliant.

Dolce & Gabbana

I was very surprised about Dolce & Gabbana this season, because as you can see, this is the first time I talk about this brand. It was actually a nice collection, the mix of the sexy italian women + fruits and vegetables á la Stella McCartney and Moschino Cheap and Chic 2011 spring collections was something I didn't imagined.

Fendi

I always ask myself how Karl Lagerfeld can manage designing for Chanel and Fendi (a total of 10 shows per year), being a photographer, making his short films and make all these things so so good.
I really liked this collection. The clothes were impecably well cut, plus the hair and make up were amazing.

Jil Sander

How not to love Jil Sander? Actually, the collection could be reduced to paisley + white + gingham + Picasso motives + amazing plexiglas booties, but it's imposible not to love each piece. Definetely, Raf Simons is doing an awesome job at the firm.

Peter Som

Prada

I'm very impressed about Miuccia Prada this time, why? Because it normally takes me at least a few hours to like a Prada collection (it goes from :| to :) and finally :D ) but not this time.
There is a clear permanence of the Miu Miu spring 2011 lines, but mixed with a touch of Grease and it's 50s. Taking the cars pattern off, really liked the collection.

I really liked it and I think it was such a nice collection, not so fierce as some of the previos ones and way more glittery and girly. The first outfit is pure love!

Derek Lam

Wow, Arizona Muse (the third model) can't be more awesome with that fierce look + really cool hair, but that's not the only reason I really liked Derek Lam's show. Seriously, I'm a big fan of Derek Lam, I've always been. The designs are so clean, and pretty... I feel silly describing what I feel about it, I don't know why, but they always catch my attention.

Phillip Lim

I have the same feelings about Phillip Lim than the written above about Derek Lam.
By the way, have you seen the dress on the right? Isn't it amazing? and have you seen those transparent shoes? They can't be cooler... Ok, I may sound over excited, but they're really beautiful.

Jason Wu

I don't want to sound more over exited, but I love Jason Wu's work, and so I love this collection

Proenza Schouler

Since they created the PS1, I can't do without looking at Lazaro and Jack's work every season. This time, it wasn't one of my favourites collection, but anyway I liked their version of the 40s lady

Tibi

If I have to tell you the truth, I hadn't heard about Tibi until the Man Repeller collaboration with it, and because I liked it, this time I took a look at their proposal for next season. What do you think? it's nothing really big, but the clothes cuts are so clean, and the clothes so simple and pretty that it's imposible not to like it.

The importance of basics II

Hi, how are you doing? Do you remember that, about last week, I talked to you about the importance of having a wardrobe based on basics? (forgive the redundancy)
So, lets get started.

First step

The first thing I recommend you to do is get some basic tshirts: tank tops or vests, short sleeve and long sleeve (depending on the season). The main colors are white, black and also grey. About the cuts, the pictures are only orientative, for example, I prefer loose ones, but you can get them tighter, it's your choice.
About the fabrics, I would recommend 100% cotton or 100% linen, but don't go for the classic thick basic tshirt mixed with elastane (like this one), you'll soon get bored of it.

For example, if you want a short sleeve white tshirt, I'd go for this one (click here). Why? Because it's 100% linen, it has a nice shape and cut and it's affordable too. If your budget is higher, you can take a look at Cos, or even T by Alexander Wang, they're so beautiful.

Second step

So, once we've covered our torsos with basics tees, it's time for our legs.

The first thing to do is knowing what type of cut fits you better; skinny jeans, boot cut, wide leg... I'd go for a skinny jean or a boot cut one, and why? Because they look good with every shoe and every jacket.
Once you know wich cut looks better on you, let's go for it.
In my opinion, you'll need at least 2 pair of jeans.

1) Dark (really dark) ones, like the second ones on the picture. You know, that pair of jeans that you could use for more formal ocasions (for example, a dinner with friends) or just everyday.
2) Lighter blue (for everyday)

And if you want to, you can get a pair of black jeans that goes well with everything or a pair of coloured jeans, like those burgundy ones on the picture.
The most important thing is to know which cut makes you look beautiful. There are different cuts for differents bodies, you just have to find yours.

Third step

But life is not all about jeans. You need shorts and skirts too.

1) Denim shorts. I'd go for a high waisted ones, like those on the picture. They're perfect for summer and autumn too (if you wear them with tights underneath).
2) Black shorts. They'll be perfect for a more formal event of for everyday too. Look how beautiful Sabrina (from afterDRK) looks here. I still don't own the perfect (actually, any) pair of black shorts, but I'd go for silky ones.
3) Black skirt. I can't count how many times my black skirt have saved me, but I can assure that I've worn that skirt in a lot (really, a lot) of ocasions.
Atention! I'm not a very "dress" girl, but the skirt can also be replaced for a black dress or even a black rumper, or if you want you can buy those three. The most important thing is finding a piece that look good on you.

There are much more basics, but I don't want to bore you, so I'll continue on my next posts.

The importance of basics

If I received an Euro for every person I know who doesn't have basics in her wardrobe I'd be millionaire... Ok, probably I won't, but I'm sure I'd have enough money to buy one of those python ballerinas from the new Zara collection.

The thing is that I know a lot of people that don't have basic clothes in their wardrobe, and why is that? Because they don't know the importance of basics!A plain white/black/grey tshirt is definitely more important than a pair of fancy high heels, and most people own thousands of heels and not so much basic tees.One of my best friends for example, had to buy a pair of black ballerinas and black trousers for a new job she got because she didn't own any!

The thing is I want to encourage you to buy less season clothes and more basics, they can save you from lots of "I have lots of clothes but nothing to wear" situations, do you agree? ♥

Bonjour! how are you doing? I know most of you have seen the new Miss Dior Cherie advert with Natalie Portman, but I've been wanting to talk about this for a long time, so...
For those who haven't seen the advert, turn down the volume and then click play: in my opinion the video is perfect, the light, the soft colours, the sunglasses, the scene on the bath (a là Black Swan)... Every single thing ♥

And now, click replay but this time turn up the volume... I don't know if you agree with me but, in my opinion, the music is a complete disaster! Really, awful! I mean, it's so dull. Sofia, what about the awesome soundtrack on the Maryna Linchuck advert? I'm not saying that moi je joue would have been better, because that song doesn't fit with the new video, but, Je t'aime...moi non plus is so... boring

I've never been really good at make up, but I'm really into lipsticks right now (maybe because it's not really difficult, right?), but it isn't that easy though, because they have to suit your skin tone, you know, if you're really pale some colors just don't suit you (in my case)...

Improving and changing (your) style has always been a controversial topic... I mean, can you just become stylish through the years, can you get that "6th the sense" as you get older, or is something that you can't do anything about? you have it or you have it? (I hope you know what I mean)
I've heard so many people saying that style is it something that you have to have and feel, and that you can't get in a moment, you should have it since the moment you were born...
But I think that's the perfect proof to show that is wrong. I mean, you have to have "something" but you can "encourage" it as you get older, until one day... voilà! ♥

Did you know that Natasha Poly married Peter Bakker a few days ago?

If you want to know more, the wedding between the rich businessman and the beautiful supermodel lasted 3 days and 3 nights, Leona Lewis gave a private concert at the reception and the awesome dress was a Givenchy gown. It seems that Lara Stone wasn't going to be the only supermodel with a huge celebration ♥

Hi, how are you doing? This is what I'm loving at the moment, all those spaces and saving interior pictures on my laptop. Aren't they gorgeous?
I love them, especially the last two ones... I'd love to have the last table and armchair, and lots of beautiful and soft pillows, nice pictures on the wall, and a beautiful carpet too (maybe a brown cow one), and a record player too, and preparing crazy and delicious milk shakes and cocktails... that would be great.

This time I went to Como Lake (a lake "near" the city), I saw it in The other man film (Antonio Banderas and Liam Neeson) and it seemed like a gorgeous place to go, so I decided that I'd spend the second day there, and I loved it! This was one of my favourite collections, don't you think it's gorgeous?

I love the flower prints, the monochrome outfits plus bright make up

it's like the spring summer collection, but adapted to autumn ♥

Burberry
What does Christopher Bailey have that I always love his collections? Definetely, this man can do no wrong. Cow printed hats? bright colours checked coats? Even if it sounds weird, they're amazing ♥

Fendi

Too much fur and ugly sunglasses, but the rest was pretty nice, especially coloured tights and the second outfit, I love it.

He has done better collections, but I love leather details on the clothes

So minimalist. I loved silver and golden fabrics

This collection, may be not as great as the spring summer one, but it's pretty cool.

Love the "flake" dresses, amazing patterns and although I'm not fan of the pithon print everywhere, it looks great.

Proenza Schouler
Proenza does that kind of clothes that maybe you don't love at first sight, but you like more and more when you see them. Love the prints, necklaces and sandals (although they look really hard to walk with)

By the way, thank you so so much Irene, you're so lovely! She gave me an award a really long time ago but I forgot to post about (I'm so sorry about that). So, I'm suposed to say a few things about me, here I go;

I'm really perfectionist and a little fussy, I love chocolate but not chocolate bars, I have a piercing in the ear (I really like it), I'd love to know much more about music, cinema and photography, I'd love to live in Paris (only during some time, I love where I live now), I never use heels (I like them but I fell down once and never used them after it), I'm a bit shy (and prefer listening to talking).

Happy Anniversary

A few days ago it was my blog's first anniversary, and I couldn't be happier

Thanks so much for following, for all those lovely comments, all those visits, awards...

I created the blog just to post a few pictures a week, about what I liked... and it's became much more (at least for me), I've known lots of great blogs, lots of nice people behind them and I've learned so many things too.
It's amazing how just a little comment or follower can make you so happy, but it's not about the number of comments or followers or visits, it's about doing something you do just for fun and seeing that somebody reads (and likes) what you do... It's such an amazing feeling
